About the Journal
The Bulletin of the Florida Museum of Natural History is an open-access periodical that publishes peer-reviewed results of original research in all aspects of museum science and education, including but not limited to zoology, botany, ecology, paleontology, archaeology, ethnography, informatics, and artificial intelligence. Priority is given to papers primarily focused on specimen-based research (including specimen-derived digital and analytical data), museum outreach, and museum education. The Bulletin also publishes topically relevant reviews and commentaries. Authors do not need to be associated with either the Florida Museum of Natural History or the University of Florida to submit and publish papers in the Bulletin. Established in 1956, the Bulletin is one of the oldest state museum periodicals in the USA. The Bulletin’s original name (Bulletin of the Florida State Museum, Biological Sciences) was changed to its current name in 1990. The Bulletin is published under the auspices of the University of Florida. In 2014, the Bulletin transitioned to the online-only publication model. The Bulletin is partly supported by the “University of Florida Foundation Bulletin Fund.”
